27 Movie Questions

1. Favorite action film?
There are too many. But if it has to be a recent one, I’d pick Pedring Lopez’s Maria, with Cristine Reyes.

2. Favorite comedy film?
Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Kung Fu Hustle.

3. Favorite “dark humour” or “black comedy” film?
Inglorious Basterds. Kakaba-kaba Ka Ba?

6. Favorite short film?
Michel Gondry’s music video for Foo Fighters’ “Everlong.”

7. Favorite romance film?

8. Favorite biographical film?
Felix Manalo reportedly broke the Guinness. No, I’m not a member and it’s not my favorite.

9. Favorite drama film?
Alon, which is about a menage a trois, with Charrie Pineda, Eula Valdez and Mark Gil. Here’s a link to a review of the movie.

10. Favorite music-themed film?
This is a hard one; I haven’t seen many. I had to google it up and see which one I saw and that one turns out to be School of Rock. So, it’s my default.

11. Favorite sci-fi film?
Serenity. The Matrix, if it can be considered sci-fi.

12. Favorite indie film?
I don’t know what is really “indie” nowadays. If Sorry to Bother You is indie then that’s it.

13. Favorite book adaptations?
Fight Club. I don’t wanna talk about it.

14. Films you want to see but never get round to watching?
There Are Just Too Many.

15. Favorite compilation soundtrack?
Here we go again. I’ll go with the first Guardian of the Galaxy.

16. Film you refuse to see?
The Godfather Part II. But Don Vito Carleone gave me an offer I cannot refuse, so I ended up watching it.

17. Films you can’t wait to come out?
I am very patient. And I don’t always have money.

18. Best tearjerker?
Well, there are films that are less manipulative, that don’t use overwhelming score, important lines of dialogue, etc to make you tear up. Some movies just tell the story plainly, but then it still hits you. Again, Alon.

19. Remake you wish had never been made?
Reboots, remake, franchises, there’s no end to it. I can’t think of any remake that I don’t like but this: I wish Sony didn’t reboot Spider-Man and went with Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4.

20. Best film you’ve seen in 3D?
I’ve only seen one: The Avengers.

21. Most beautiful film? (in terms of cinematography)
The Blair Witch Project?

22. Movie that didn’t meet your expectations?
In films as much as in life, I always follow the golden rule: Don’t expect.

23. Movie that exceeded your expectations?
See above.

24. Best cinema experience?
I don’t know about rating my experience. Is the air-conditioning too cold? Is the sound too loud? But this, I watched Mike de Leon’s Citizen Jake in posh cinema (located where public utility vehicles don’t pass by) and celebrities Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Anne Santos were seated two rows from my seat.

25. Most surprising movie moment?
Piolo Pascual’s character getting shot in On the Job.

26. Favorite dance sequence in a movie?
I remember the dance at the end of Bridal Shower, but my favorite would be the dance battle in D’Anothers and the dance-off in The Guardians of the Galaxy.

27. Most disturbing movie you have ever seen?
The blog I copied this from mentioned that The Sixth Sense was disturbing. I wonder if she or he can handle something like A Serbian Film or Lars Von Trier’s Antichrist or Pasolini’s Salo–all of which I haven’t seen yet. The sex scene between an alien and a woman in The Untamed is pretty disturbing. But the rape scene in the original I Spit On Your Grave is probably the most disturbing I’ve seen.
